General search logic

Searches are not case-sensitive. So, for example, it doesn't matter whether you type department, DEPARTMENT or Department in a Title or Text field as the results will be the same in all three instances.

You can perform a search that is based on one field or on multiple fields. If you specify criteria in more than one field, the searching routines return results that meet all the criteria you have given. For example, if you specify a title and a year, the search returns legislation with that title and that year.

There are various search options, including wildcard searches, fuzzy searches and Boolean searches, that you can use when specifying search details in the 'Title' field and the 'Text' field (but not the 'Year' field or 'Number' field).
