Select the ‘Chronological index’ link from the search bar to browse legislation ordered according to the year of enactment.
When you select the ‘Chronological index’ link, this page appears:
The most recent year appears first. Within each year, however, the legislation is listed in ascending numerical order.
The results are displayed 50 to a page. If there are more than 50 results, you can move through the pages using the page navigation facility displayed at the top and bottom of the table. This facility is described more fully in Working with Search Results.
On the ‘Chronological Index’ page you can do the following:
You can type a particular
year into the ‘Year’ field to return legislation for that year.
You can refine the search
by selecting a specific type of legislation from the ‘Legislation type’
drop-down list, at the top of the page. For instance, you can choose to
list all legislation or all secondary legislation or, as in the example
below, all UK Statutory Instruments.
By default, the ‘All Primary’ entry is selected, which means that all
primary legislation is listed.
Each entry in the list operates as a hyperlink. Clicking on an entry will take you to the ‘Results within legislation’ page for the selected item of legislation.
The ‘Chronological index’ will always produce the latest versions of legislation, applicable to the widest geographical extent. This is because the facility deems that you have specified two additional search criteria: an ‘As at the date’ of today’s date and an extent of ‘UK (Applicable to)’. If you want to search using any other date or extent criteria, please use ‘Advanced search’.
